The mission of the University of Minnesota Occupational Therapy Program (OT) isto educate leaders in occupational therapy through innovative experience-based education and research to advance the science of OT, and fosterthe health and quality of life of individuals, communities, and societies. Our program offers a 37 month, 116 credit, graduate-level professional program completed over nine semesters. Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for the Occupational Therapist, administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this examination, the graduate will be an occupational therapist, registered (OTR).

ACCREDITATION and NATIONAL CERTIFICATION
DOCTORAL-DEGREE-LEVEL OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PROGRAM
The entry-level occupational therapy doctoral degree program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 7501 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 510E Bethesda, MD 20814. ACOTE’s telephone number c/o AOTA is (301) 652-AOTA and its web address iswww.acoteonline.org. Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.
Students must complete 24 weeks of Level II fieldwork as well as an individual 14-week capstone experience within 24 months following the completion of semester 8 of the program. The doctoral capstone experience must be started after completion of all coursework and Level II Fieldwork as well as completion of preparatory activities defined in 2018 ACOTE OTD Standard D.1.3.
Our graduated students consistently achieve high National Board for Certification in Occupation Therapy (NBCOT) scores, and have significant career placement success, reporting near 100 percent job placement in OT practice positions.

Occupational Therapy DoctorateGraduation Rates
Graduation rates represent a percentage of students within a cohort who graduate, compared to the number who began the cohort within 150% of the published end of the program. Students who did not complete the curriculum within this time period may have withdrawn, taken a leave of absence, or otherwise have left the curriculum. The first admitted OTD cohort will graduate in Summer 2022.

COST OF ATTENDANCE
The cost categories are estimates and are meant to assist preparing a personal budget. Individual student costs will vary. Visit the One Stop Student Services website to estimatetuition for our program.
In addition to general tuition and fees of the University, there are fees charged for individual occupational therapy courses. To identify which courses have additional fees, visit the One Stop course fees web site. Each year in July, the University of Minnesota Board of Regents approves the tuition and fees for the next academic year. Tuition and Fees are subject to change. More information about Occupational Therapy costs and fees can be found one the One Stop costs, tuition, and fees page. OTD-specific fee information will be posted each Summer.

The tables below are based upon one of three plan options to complete the degree. All options equal the same total number of credits, but the tuition varies per semester based upon the student’s individual course plan.
