New Honkai: Star Rail Character Leaks Hint At Returning Gameplay Mechanic (2024)

Summary

  • New Honkai: Star Rail characters may revive a dormant gameplay mechanic with event-summoning abilities.
  • Lingsha and Aglaea may have mechanics similar to Jing Yuan's Lightning-Lord for delayed powerful actions.
  • There is potential for more varied follow-up attacks team compositions if the leaks about the new characters are accurate.

There are new Honkai: Star Rail character leaks following the reveal of several upcoming units. The turn-based RPG by HoYoverse is about to exit the main Penacony storyline with Version 2.3 and, despite the conclusion of the main story arc this year, there will be more story content until the start of Version 3.0 and, among that, new companions that Trailblazers will meet, as teased by a short and enigmatic video at the end of the Honkai: Star Rail 2.3 livestream. Now, leaks about some of these characters have emerged.

At the end of the livestream, seven new characters were teased, including the new March 7th form that was later confirmed and fully revealed by HoYoverse. Some of these units had been mentioned in leaks for a while and, now, a leak compilation provides minor insight into what they may do. According to information obtained by the leaker known as HomDGCat, which was shared on Reddit, two upcoming characters will have gameplay mechanics that summon an event on the action bar. These refer to Lingsha, who has been confirmed, and a character that goes by the codename Aglaea.

New Honkai: Star Rail Characters May Bring Back A Dormant Mechanic

New Xianzhou Characters Are Expected To Be Released Starting In Version 2.4

From the description provided in the leak, it seems like Lingsha and this mysterious character known as Aglaea may actually revive a dormant gameplay mechanic that has not been used too abundantly. By summoning an event on the action bar, it is likely that these two units will have some sort of mechanic similar to Jing Yuan’s Lightining-Lord, which has its own separate base SPD and strikes independently. If the leaks and the speculation are true, then players may start seeing more powerful yet delayed actions come into play in Honkai: Star Rail.

“The big thing about Jing Yuan is having a delayed yet powerful action come in later.”

Follow-up attacks like Lightning-Lord have been in the spotlight recently, with several units specializing in these types of attacks. Dr. Ratio, Topaz and Numby, Aventurine, and Robin are all great characters for such purposes and there are several buffs to this type of gameplay mechanic. However, these follow-up attacks are often triggered or accelerated by stacks rather than a summon on the action bar, so the leaks about Lingsha and Aglaea seem to hint at an investment into this other aspect of follow-up attacks in Honkai: Star Rail.

If this is true, then it is possible players may have a more reliable version of an older mechanic up their sleeves when building team comps. The big thing about Jing Yuan is having a delayed yet powerful action come in later and take out opponents that have been weakened by the rest of the party. If Lingsha and Aglaea’s leaks are accurate, then this may occur more frequently.

They may even take advantage of the characters that currently buff follow-up attacks, like Robin in Honkai: Star Rail.

Of course, for now, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt. A lot of the information provided may be incorrect or highly subject to change, as HoYoverse is likely planning to spread out the release of these seven confirmed characters over several patches – and it is still uncertain who Aglaea is. With that, a lot can change, especially while undergoing tests. Nevertheless, the future of Honkai: Star Rail looks even more promising with several characters exploring different avenues when it comes to combat.
