There are many different reviews on the hurricane power supply, some good - some bad. I went with the critical cx-2 as its reviews are excellent. Its a bit pricey, but its a great supply.
One of the things that i didnt like about the hurricane was the fact thats its a cheap copy, its life expectancy is said to be not great and from many reviews it has a problem running rotary machines so this was a big no go for me as im just starting with a rotary.

Having said all that, there are some who have no problems with the hurricane.

Did you use a coil machine or rotary for this piece?:icon_mrgreen:

I picked up one of these too. Found one on eBay for $50 which is about 30 pounds. I figured for that price I'd take a gamble. Seems with these you either get a good one, or one that doesn't work. Fortunately I got a good one and really like it. At that price I'd recommend anyone to have a go! I think in the future when I'm in a shop and making decent coin I'll splash out and get a critical supply but for now the hurrican is a neat little unit.

i have a hurricane power supply and it was working great ... till all of a sudden it crap the bed on me in the middle of a tattoo ... it wasn't even six months old... i couldn't figure it out .. so i put it away for a few months ... and started to tinker with it.. i opened it up and noticed there is a battery inside... i haven't changed the battery yet .. but i was wondering if someone could tell me if changing the batter for a hurricane power supply would bring it back to life... i've tried to research any issues with this model and was not able to really find the answers i was looking for .... so hopefully someone here can help answer my question..

Tony, just had a look at my HP2,seems the battery looks like its just for keeping the "memory" going whilst not being used, looks like it could be a cr3032 battery which are cheap on ebay and it looks fairly easy to change

Hope this helps a little

I'm only seeing now that people are saying this machine is a copy.. I wish I knew that before I ordered mine
It never worked once, wont even turn on

Heres a picture of it, doesn't even look legit, look at the lettering on top it doesn't line up..
Didn't come with enough screws for the base plate
Doesn't come with a proper IRL/UK plug it needs an adaptor

I cant get a refund only a replacement so if the new one works, I guess I will use that until it blows..

P*ssed off, saving now for quality gear, no more cheap sh*t

Critical supply is the one I want as it looks like the most user friendly supply

I bought one of these about a month ago and have had no problems at all , having said that i haven`t used it a great deal as i only tattoo myself and the missus a few hours a week , i bought mine from an American company down in Florida but it is still a `made in China` product ( what isn`t ) one thing i did notice that my machines run 2 or 3 volts less with this power supply than my previous one , i think it was $50 bucks well spent personally , but i guess its like everything , you could pay 50 grand for a car and it breaks down on the way home , i remember paying 60 quid for an old Toyota Carina once and the think just run and run and started everyday , go figure
