As Chad and Stephanie clean up after dinner at Julie’s, they playfully differ on Everett’s presence at Thanksgiving. Since the kids are staying there, Chad flirtatiously suggests time alone could be good for them. Everett returns to interrupt them after interviewing Doug and Julie. He’s headed to the paper right now to write it up and needs Stephanie to go with him.

At home, Xander chows on a giant turkey leg when Sarah comes by with Victoria. Sarah gives him a copy of Victoria’s birth certificate, which now lists him as the father. Xander is touched. Sarah is sorry it took Victoria being kidnapped for her to realize she wants him in their child’s life.

Alex and Theresa have coffee in the Square after spending Thanksgiving with Tate. She’s pleased with how her son has adjusted to life in Salem. Segueing, she asks how Alex is doing with Justin. Alex says things are awkward, but they love each other a lot. Speaking of family, Alex wants to check on Maggie, who must be shook after Victoria’s kidnapping. Theresa guiltily shifts and declines when Alex invites her along. He presses until she agrees.

Maggie and Konstantin sit in the Kiriakis living room after Thanksgiving dinner. She again calls him a hero for saving Victoria, but he still feels terrible for kissing her. She assures him everything is fine between them. In fact, she’s grateful to him for being a source of comfort.

At the Horton House, Everett explains he needs Stephanie to draw up a response to their star columnist getting charged with murder. Chad says it’s simple: Leo got what he deserved. Everett retorts it’s not that black and white. Incensed, Chad looks to Stephanie for backup. She tells Chad she’s no fan of Leo’s, but her job is to do damage control for the paper. Chad stews as Stephanie leaves with Everett.

In Kayla’s office, Steve shares that he and John discovered Victor insisted Konstantin pay back the loan for his restaurant, and when he couldn’t, it caused a rift between them. Which is the total opposite of Konstantin’s story. Kayla tries to defend him, but Steve declares all his white lies don’t add up. Especially the lie about him and Victor being the best of friends. By all accounts, they hated each other.

As Xander and Sarah discuss co-parenting at his place, Sarah says she’s glad it’s working out. And maybe someday… When she trails off, Xander asks if she wants to get back together. Sarah nervously says she is open to the possibility. She assumes he is, too, since they almost kissed yesterday. Obviously, there’s still a spark, but he thought there was too much water under the bridge. She thinks they’re in a better place, and since they have a child, it’s something they should think about. Xander has his thinking cap on as they speak. He draws in close. She shifts awkwardly, saying she has to go to work.

Sarah opens the door to Chad on her way out. Alone with Xander, Chad tells him he bought Gwen’s half of the paper. Xander realizes Chad still wants to fire Everett, but since they’re equal partners, he won’t go along with it. Chad offers to be his silent partner. Xander can even keep his share of the profits. Xander credits Everett with keeping the paper from going under. Chad again states his terms: Xander doubles his money in exchange for firing Everett and keeping Chad’s name out of it.

At The Spectator, Stephanie and Everett draft a release in support of Leo and Dimitri helping Nicole give birth. When Everett’s laptop battery gets low, he asks her to grab his charger. As she digs into his bag, she finds a ring box. He tries to lie that it’s a fancy contact lens case, but she opens the box to an engagement ring.

Everett reluctantly admits he bought it for her before the accident. He knew it was probably too soon, but he knew in his heart he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He knows he should have sold it after finding out about Chad, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. With tears welling, Stephanie tells him how sorry she is. He knows she had every right to move on with her life. Embarrassed, he suggests they get back to work so she can get home to Chad.

Upon arriving at the Kiriakis mansion, Theresa tightly tells Maggie how sorry she is about what happened with Victoria. Maggie credits Konstantin with saving the little girl as he walks in. Theresa rolls her eyes. Alex shakes his hand and introduces him to Theresa. Konstantin says they already know each other. She stares anxiously as he lies that she gave him directions in the Square once.

In Kayla’s office, Steve suggests they tell Maggie their concerns over Konstantin. Kayla thinks it’s cruel since they’re not 100% sure. “How do you feel about 90%?” Steve asks. Kayla doesn’t want to upset Maggie for no reason. She suggests Steve tell her family so they can keep an eye on things. Sarah walks in. When Steve fills her in on his doubts, Sarah admits she had them too, but then Konstantin saved Victoria from a kidnapper. Steve calls that very convenient. Sarah says Maggie saw the kidnapper, which Konstantin couldn’t have made up. Steve muses he had a partner in crime.

Chad casually sips a drink as Stephanie returns home. He knows he was hard on Everett, but promises to give the guy a chance. Meanwhile, at the paper, a hesitant Xander tells Everett he has to let him go.

When Maggie and Alex head to the kitchen for refreshments, Theresa rails at Konstantin for almost outing them. Konstantin was just trying to have some fun. Theresa shouts that none of this is fun. It makes her sick the way he’s using Maggie for her money. Konstantin reminds her she’s doing the same thing by going after Alex’s inheritance. Alex returns, furrowing his brow.
